Separate vendors. One coordinated project.
Equipment supplied by others still needs a place in the construction plan.
Technology, security, furnishings, specialty equipment, and other owner-selected systems may come from several vendors. Their work can affect power, data, plumbing, structural support, finishes, access, and the sequence of construction.
Define the connections before installation.
Information and responsibilities
Identify who supplies, delivers, installs, connects, tests, and accepts each item. Obtain the selected equipment information and coordinate it with the design team before construction relies on it.
Space and utilities
Review dimensions, service clearances, access, support, and connection requirements with the responsible designer and vendor. An approximate equipment location may not be enough to complete the work accurately.
Delivery and installation
Coordinate lead times, delivery routes, unloading, storage, protection, and installation dates. Connect vendor access with the readiness of the space and the work of other trades.
Testing and turnover
Define startup, testing, training, and acceptance responsibilities early. Plan time for the responsible suppliers and trades to address issues before the space begins operating.
Questions that belong in the plan.
Who is providing the final equipment requirements?
The selected manufacturer and vendor should provide the information the design and installation depend on. Confirm model numbers, approved layouts, connection details, and required clearances with the responsible project team.
What happens if the equipment changes?
A substitution or late selection can affect rough-in locations, cabinetry, clearances, electrical service, and timing. Communicate the change before affected work proceeds so the project team can evaluate the impact.
Who confirms that the space is ready for the vendor?
Agree on the installation conditions and readiness check with the vendor and construction team. Confirm access, utilities, protection, and any remaining work around the equipment.
